The cause of death has been revealed for '80s star Peter Byrne. We reported on the Naked Eyes co-founder's death when it happened - he was 74 years old.
He passed away in Los Angeles on September 14 after what his band's website described as a "brief illness".
A death certificate filed with the Los Angeles Department of Health has confirmed his cause of death. The certificate, obtained by People, noted that he died of an "acute hemorrhagic stroke".
The Mayo Clinic describes a hemorrhagic stroke as occuring "when a blood vessel in the brain leaks or bursts and causes bleeding in the brain." The brain bleed "increases pressure on brain cells and damages them."
He also had an underlying condition of colitis, which, per the outlet, "may have contributed to his death but was not the cause."
The Cleveland Clinic describes colitis as inflammation of the colon. There are a number of different types of colitis, however the '80s star's death certificate did not specify.

Peter Byrne was a co-founding member of the iconic '80s band Naked Eyes. He had founded the band in 1982 alongside his friend at college, Rob Fisher.
They experienced a lot of commercial success, with four Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. "Always Something There To Remind Me" was Naked Eyes' biggest hit, having peaked at number 8.
However, the band was shortlived despite being highly regarded and beloved. As we reported, he said of the split, "After living and writing together 24 hours a day for four or five years, we needed a break from each other. Record companies change. People that sign you move on. New people come in."
In any case, the death of the '80s star rocked the music scene. People were quick to post their condolences online.
One poster wrote about how the band resonated with him and his family. "My daughters and I have Naked Eyes on repeat as they are always on our playlists. Thank you for the great songs Peter."
