Carrot Top, real name Scott Thompson, has been released from the hospital, according to a source who spoke with PEOPLE.

The source noted that the famed comedian is now "home with his family and doing well." Carrot Top had previously been in the hospital following an attempt on his own life. According to TMZ, he is suspected to have taken an overdose.
Authorities discovered him at his Las Vegas home. The incident occurred on Sept. 18.
"According to a police report, obtained by TMZ, cops responded to the scene and discovered Carrot — breathing but unconscious—next to a pool in his backyard," TMZ reports.
Carrot Top's release comes just days after news broke that he was awake and breathing on his own.
"Scott remains hospitalized and under close medical care. He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him," a rep for the comedian informed TMZ.
Throughout his stay in the hospital, Carrot Top reportedly kept his spirits up by reading well wishes from his swarms of fans. He is also reported to have been in good spirits. The comedian was even joking around with the medical staff taking care of him.
"Hearing those stories and feeling that support has meant a great deal to him during his recovery," the representative continued. "Scott and his family remain deeply grateful for the extraordinary kindness and continue to ask that his privacy be respected."
Carrot Top Was Reportedly Dealing With Extortion
According to Carrot Top's lawyer, he was dealing with an alleged attempted extortion before his attempt on his own life.
"On its face it is a malicious threat to expose Thompson to disgrace, and to expose a secret affecting him, with intent thereby to extort money under the guise of litigation conduct," Carrot Top's legal team wrote in a statement.
A rep for the comedian then noted that, "A federal court recently declared Mr. Evans a 'vexatious litigant' and described his filings as 'serial' and 'spurious.' In dismissing one of his cases with prejudice, the court went even further, stating, 'It appears this entire case is designed to harass Defendants.' The court's findings and Mr. Evans's litigation record speak for themselves."
Now that Thompson is out of the hospital, he will likely continue his recovery at home. Hopefully, that recovery will also include attending therapy, so that any situation like this can be avoided in the future.
