Most of us have heard shocking stories about horrifying hazing incidents on college campuses. Students are allegedly required to perform tasks that are humiliating or even dangerous as part of fraternity initiation rituals. In an alleged such incident at the University of Wisconsin, per The New York Post, an alarming discovery was made by police. They reportedly took action based on a tip. In fact, what they supposedly saw was deeply disturbing.

Thirty "partially clothed teen pledges smeared in condiments and huddled in a sweltering, filthy basement" were found. The two leaders of this "unrecognized" fraternity are now facing potentially serous consequences.
They are Brayden J. Klein and Samuel N. Vane, per the Post. Both are 20 years old and are the fraternity's president and vice president, respectively. The men were arrested for "misdemeanor hazing and misdemeanor disorderly conduct" on Wednesday, September 23.
Police Saw a Startling Scene in the Basement
According to the Post, what law enforcement reportedly saw was hard to comprehend. Some of those 30 people, most of whom were 18 years old, were hurt and also "covered in food, condiments and other liquids." That description allegedly comes from the incident report.
The temperature on a thermostat was pushed up to a sauna-like 91 degrees.
The University Released a Lengthy Statement Discussing the Alleged Incident
In a long statement on the University's web site, the alleged hazing incident was discussed. In fact, the tone of this message was stern. Also, it is tagged "vice chancellor for student affairs."
Dated September 24, 2026, it said in part, "...A September 23 off-campus incident being investigated by the Madison Police Department occurred at an unrecognized student organization whose status with the university was terminated in 2015."
Furthermore, "The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards will investigate any students implicated in the incident according to its nonacademic misconduct process." Possible penalties may include "a written reprimand, disciplinary probation, disciplinary suspension, expulsion, or educational sanctions."
In addition, regarding the status of the fraternity, the statement clarified that by noting this. "Since this chapter continues to be recognized by its national organization, it is legally allowed to operate as a fraternity chapter unaffiliated with the university."
