How, you ask? Well, Dolly Parton Day! It's today, September 25 (9-2-5, get it?). The day represents one of her most iconic hits, a song that's personally gotten me out of bed on days I otherwise wouldn't have.
It's been enshrined in California law, with a bipartisan bill establishing September 25 as an official day of remembrance.
People and businesses have been celebrating the day in different ways. Taste of Country (which has also jazzed up its website in honor of Dolly Parton) reported that a number of businesses are looking at Dolly Parton Day a little differently.
They're calling it "Give Like Dolly Day" and are donating to her Imagination Library in her memory. Companies as big as American Eagle Outfitters and as small as Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams have vowed to donate proceeds from certain items to her library.
One Little Girl Who Idolized Dolly Parton Is Also Celebrating
As reported by People, it's not just companies celebrating such a heartfelt occasion.
Dolly Parton Children's Hospital is also throwing a pretty great celebration. And one little girl who survived cancer after receiving treatment at the hospital will be attending.
Nine-year-old Hattie Halter absolutely idolizes Dolly Parton (who doesn't?). She battled acute myeloid leukemia and received treatment at Dolly Parton Children's Hospital.
Her mom, Melissa, opened up about what Dolly means to her daughter. She said Hattie knows all the lyrics to her iconic hits and "jumps at any opportunity to discuss the star."
"Me and her dad, her two brothers and Hattie, we're all gonna be there bright and early," she explained. "Being a part of anything that has to do with Dolly where she gets to talk to people about her, she's just so excited."
