Before her sudden death last month, Country music icon Dolly Parton sought medical treatment overseas.

TMZ reported that Parton quietly battled cancer for a year and flew to Germany in search of a cure.
According to TMZ, the "Jolene" singer underwent a week of treatment in Frankfurt, Germany and believed the treatment "helped restore her strength and felt it had been effective."
The Country Music Hall of Famer's sister, Stella Parton, revealed that even when Dolly realized she wouldn't survive, she underwent experimental treatment hoping it would one day save the lives of others.
"My big sister Dolly got her wings this past Tuesday," Parton's statement on X read. "If anyone gets to heaven, I'm sure she made it right on time. I know she's showing out big time. In all her sparkles and shine. That was my sister's way. Every Tuesday about this time, before the sun came up and the world was still asleep, she and I, for many years, had our coffee together over the phone. Being little farm girls, we've continued to be early risers. As she liked to say; 'shoot Tedda, we get more work done before the sun comes up than most folks do all day long!' We would catch up on gossip, as sisters do. Drink coffee and make plans. It has always been our way.
Dolly Parton Underwent Experimental Treatment
"My sister was one of the most generous, thoughtful and kind people I've ever known," she continued. "What the world saw is exactly who she was. So much so, she told me recently that if there was no hope for her, she would still allow her medical team to try experimental drugs in the hope of helping others in the future."
Fans did not know Parton was battling cancer until it was announced after her passing on Aug. 25.
Her longtime manager, Danny Nozell, revealed on Friday that Parton remained passionate about music when her health waned. He added that she spent her final moments working on unreleased projects.
"Dolly worked up until the day she died. She loved seeing her dreams come to life. She loved knowing her work brought people joy. Ever the planner, Dolly worked with the team that she handpicked for the past several years to build a project roadmap that will guide us for decades to come," Nozell told The Hollywood Reporter.
