An indie musician chose to step away from the road thanks to heartbreaking circumstances. Their mother is dying from terminal cancer.

Naomi McPherson won't be joining MUNA on their fall tour, at least not initially. McPherson is choosing to be with her mother in her time of need. The indie group announced that McPherson wouldn't be joining them at the start of the tour in an Instagram post.
The indie musician's mother, Harriet, has aggressive cancer. So she is choosing to take a break.
"Tragically, Naomi's mother Harriet has been suffering for some time now from an extremely aggressive and terminal form of cancer that has escalated in severity over the past few weeks," the band said wrote in the post. "Now, it has become clear that her passing will coincide with the beginning of this headline tour."
Indie Musician Steps Back
With the tour scheduled to launch on September 25 in Philadelphia, she will miss shows in Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, Nashville and Atlanta. Lou Roy is stepping up to play in her stead.
"I'm so honored to be stepping in for Naomi," Roy wrote on Instagram. "I'm going to do my best to bring you guys the best shows we can in this absolutely insane moment."
Despite the heartbreaking reality of what she is facing, the indie musician wanted the tour to continue as planned. So they marched on without her for now. The band thanked McPherson for all that she has done for each of them.
"It is impossible to overstate the impact that Harriet has had on the band, and on our hearts and souls. We are heartbroken. She is simply one of the greatest, most wise and loving people and we are enraged and full of despair that she is being taken from us. We are also feeling so much love and gratitude for everything she has given and taught us, and for the way she raised her wonderful child," the group wrote.
The indie artist is expected to return at a future date, but at this time, we are unsure when that will be.
