Reba McEntire is sadly mourning the loss of another friend. The country star paid tribute to Jon Small, whom she had previously collaborated with, via social media. The post showed both McEntire and Small together on the set of a shoot.

"Jon Small, who directed my very first music video and so many others, passed away," she posted on Instagram. "Rest in peace, my friend. Happy trails to you, 'til we meet again. Love, Reba."

The caption then continued by praising Small's talent and vision, noting that he often went 'above and beyond.'

"One of the most talented and visionary directors the industry has ever seen. He went above and beyond," one commenter wrote.

Small passed away at the age of 79 after a battle with cancer.

"Musician and director Jon Small died September 4, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He died of cancer at the age of 79," his obituary reads. "...A native of Long Island, New York, Small is also being remembered for directing the music videos for songs like "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith and Run DMC."

The obituary also noted that Small had directed the music video for McEntire's "Till You Love Me."
