Alex Duong, who was known for his occasional appearances on the hit cop show Blue Bloods, sadly passed away earlier this year. He was 42 years old. Alex died after a battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma is a type of cancer that attacks the soft tissue within the body. He was diagnosed in 2025 and likely began treatment immediately. According to PennLive, Duong previously noted that his fight against the disease began when he started to experience headaches behind his eyes.
Those headaches quickly worsened, and his eye reportedly became severely swollen. In fact, the swelling was so severe that his manager at The Comedy Store pulled him aside and urged him to seek medical treatment.
"Your left eye looks like it's about to fall out," Duong recalled, via The Los Angeles Times. "You should go home."
Following that conversation, Duong was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. He lost vision in his left eye shortly after, due to a mass blocking the blood flow to his optic nerve.
Duong's health continued to deteriorate throughout the following months, ultimately leading to his passing.
A Friend Announced the Death of Alex Duong via a GoFundMe
Duong's death was made public when his friend, Hilarie Steele, made the announcement via his GoFundMe page.
"With the heaviest hearts, we share our dear Alex passed away peacefully this morning," she wrote. "He was comfortable and thankfully out of pain. Christina and Everest were able to see him last night, and he was alert enough to say goodbye to his little girl, who he has treasured every moment since the day she was born. We are devastated, but so grateful for the support, prayers, and generosity you have all shown during this unimaginable time."
Steele continued by thanking those who had donated, noting that those donations would go toward helping the family move forward.
"Your continued support now means everything as Christina and Everest navigate the days ahead and to arrange a beautiful celebration of his life," she continued. "All of us will be by her side to hold her up and help her in every way possible. We love you all. We will share more when we are able. Thank you for holding his family in your hearts."
Duong appeared in three episodes of Blue Bloods between 2021 and 2024.
