Michael Sweetney has sadly passed away at the age of 43. Michael's wife, India, broke the news with a heartfelt post on Facebook.

"With the heaviest hearts, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Michael," India wrote. "To know @mikesweetney was to love him. No one loved him more, and he loved no one more than his family. His children were the light of his life, and he lived every day to give them the best life possible. He's been my best friend for 30 years and my husband for almost 20. I'm not sure what we or I will do without him."
India then continued by requesting that the family's privacy be respected during such a difficult time.
"He was the best son, brother, family member, friend, father, and husband anyone could ask for. We appreciate every call and text of love and support. We just ask that right now, you give us all a little time before you start to reach out, because it's been pretty overwhelming."
Currently, there is no information on the cause of death.
Sweetney, a 6-foot-8 forward who entered the NBA as the ninth overall draft pick in 2003, spent four years in the NBA. His first two seasons came with the New York Knicks, while the latter two came with the Chicago Bulls.
During his NBA career, Sweetney averaged 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds while playing in 233 regular-season games.
