The wife of the "God Bless the USA" singer Lee thanked President Trump on social media on Monday, Sep. 14. She said the nomination was "one of the greatest honors of my lifetime."

"I am profoundly honored and humbled by President Trump's confidence in nominating me to serve as United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean," she wrote.

She added, "Mr. President, thank you for believing in me and entrusting me with this extraordinary opportunity to serve. If confirmed by the United States Senate, I will work every day to earn that confidence, to listen and learn, to build genuine relationships, and to make sure the people of every nation I am privileged to serve know how deeply America values their friendship.

"I was raised to believe that when your country calls you to serve, you show up with gratitude, humility, and your whole heart. That is exactly what I intend to do. I am incredibly grateful, deeply humbled, and ready to serve."
