A rising politician who made history as Georgia's youngest mayor has been ousted after less than a year.

Jayden Williams was just 22 when the citizens of Stockbridge, a neighborhood just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, elected him as mayor of the city of about 30,000 people. However, the young political phenom, now 23, has already been yanked from office after around 10 months as mayor.
"The City of Stockbridge confirms that the City Council has taken formal action concerning the Office of Mayor following proceedings conducted pursuant to applicable City processes," a
statement from the city explained. "As a result of that action, the Mayor has been removed from office."The former mayor is accused of mishandling a municipal credit card and sharing sexually charged texts with an 18-year-old male high school student, per Atlanta's Fox 5. The Stockbridge City Council voted 3-0 to remove Williams.
Williams allegedly used the municipal credit card to rack up over $4,000 for things like haircuts, movie tickets, and meals. Meanwhile, $2,600 was reportedly spent on gas alone.
City workers noticed and reported the charges to city management right away. Williams claimed in testimony that he unintentionally used the card for personal expenses and later repaid the fees. The impeached mayor also noted that his personal credit card was similar to the municipal credit card.
Former Georgia Mayor on Alleged Explicit Messages to High School Student: 'We Were Both Adults'
Meanwhile, a law firm hired by the city reportedly uncovered explicit messages Williams sent to a teen high school student late last year, per NBC News. The student was 18 and a legal adult. However, according to Fox 5, the student was allegedly involved in a city-affiliated mentorship program. Police turned over the information to the city's administrative review for possible ethical violations.
However, Williams insisted the student didn't participate in the city's "Mayor for a Day" program, which he pointed out isn't a mentorship program. He also pointed out that the messages were exchanged before he was sworn in as mayor.
"The individual was 18 years old at the time of our communication, meaning we were both adults. I met this individual on November 30, 2025. Our online communication occurred before I was sworn into office in January 2026," Williams said in a statement, per The New York Post.
Williams became Georgia's youngest ever mayor when he defeated incumbent Anthony Ford last november. His mayorial privledged were revoked during the coty's ivestifation back in July leading to his impeachment over the weekend. No criminal charges were ever filed.
