Noel Devine, an assistant coach at West Virginia, was arrested on Sunday and charged with felony strangulation. As such, he's been placed on indefinite leave. Devine, a former star running back for the program, had been working at the school since last year.

According to The New York Post, Devine's bond has been set at $40,000.
Upon learning of Devine's arrest, West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez released a statement.
"Upon receiving information of the arrest, I have immediately and indefinitely put Noel Devine on leave from the Mountaineer football coaching staff," Rodriguez said. "Any future decision on his status will be determined after more information becomes available."
There are currently no further details regarding Devine's arrest. However, it's unlikely we will see him back on the sidelines for West Virginia while the case is still open. All we know for now is that he was booked into North Central Regional Jail on Sunday, August 13, per WBOY.
As such, new details will likely become public as they arise. Furthermore, no time frame has been set for any potential court case, and an investigation into the alleged altercation is likely underway.
Noel Devine Enjoyed a Stellar Collegiate Career With West Virginia
Devine spent four years as a student-athlete with West Virginia. During his tenure with the program, he proved himself to be an elite running back prospect. As a rookie, Devine played in 12 games, rushing for 627 yards and scoring six touchdowns.
In his sophomore season, Devine ranked for 1289 yards, dropping four touchdowns in 13 games. In that same season, he led the Big East in rushing yards per attempt with 6.3. However, it was Devine's junior year when he put up the best numbers of his career.
In 13 games, he ran for 1465 yards, scoring a career-high 13 touchdowns in the process. He also ended the season with 177 receiving yards along with a touchdown, averaging eight yards per reception.
As a senior, Devine ran for 934 yards, scoring six touchdowns. Unfortunately for Devine, his solid college career didn't translate into NFL success, as he went undrafted during his draft cycle. Despite playing in the CFL for multiple years, Devine made the choice to return to West Virginia, where he will now remain on indefinite leave.
