Multiple fans have noticed similarities between some of her songs and those of established stars. Lefty's "Why Wouldn't We" has been likened to "I'll Name The Dogs" by Blake Shelton, and "Misery" has some uncanny similarities to "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman. At least, that's what fans are saying.
It's worth noting that Lefty has already had to list Noah Kahan as a writer on "Boston." The country star's legal team reportedly contacted Lefty's representatives over similarities to his hit "Stick Season." However, Lefty has previously addressed those similarities during a conversation with Vanity Fair.
"When I was writing the song, I wasn't thinking about Noah Kahan," Lefty said. "I was literally thinking about nothing at all... I don't want to step on anybody's toes, so I'm like, if this sounds like that, whatever, all good."
Unfortunately, after Lefty acknowledged the fact that she'd retrospectively added Kahan as a writer on "Boston," fans will undoubtedly be inclined to assume any future similarities aren't due to a coincidence.
Stella Lefty Faces Increasing Claims of Plagiarism
Unfortunately for Lefty, the number of fans accusing her of plagiarism continues to grow. In fact, it's gotten so bad now that some fans are calling her "Stella Thefty" due to the number of similarities in her music.
"A fan online shared a clip of Lefty's 2025 single "Seven Eleven" in an X post, which now has two million views, noting that it sounded similar to the beginning of Wheatus' "Teenage Dirtbag," Rolling Stone reports. "Some people went back on Lefty's TikTok page and found that the singer covered "Teenage Dirtbag" in August 2025."
Lefty is yet to address the new wave of plagiarism claims against her. However, if she wants to continue putting out music, she'll have to do so in the near future. After all, a rumor left unchecked often takes on a life of its own.
