Myers has been upfront about his battle with cancer. In the video, he sang and played the guitar while getting chemotherapy.
"I don't always bring my guitar to treatment, partially cuz I just want to sleep through the askewness chemo puts on you,"
he wrote on Facebook alongside the video. "But when I wrote 2nd Daddy I sure had to. I couldn't stop, and still can't stop playing it. Y'all really ginned me up on this hospo take. Made a bad day more sustainable, made some hard months a little easier. I gotta lotta friends among strangers, and you can count me family. Thanks for helping me through through some of those humps. The country singer has been battling cancer for a year while continuing to perform and plan his next album. But his battle has taken a toil mentally on him as well. He recently shared a message of loneliness due to his cancer.
"One of them days you wake up tired like you stepping on a trapdoor in the floor of your bones,"
he wrote on Facebook. "A loneliness aches in you like an old companion that won't stop knocking on your door. You break your own heart, frustrated at your circumstances, envisioning the light and life you wanted vs the dark inertias you currently wade. But every day you get stronger, even with death sitting like a wolf in the shade of your heart, even when your eyes have difficulty making sense of the shadows that dog your path. Don't be like me, sinking into yourself, wading in your woebegone-ness, feeling like you witnessing life go on without me. I know it well. Watching love move on from this minefield kind of living. I make mine my enemies and deny the better parts of us. Is it any better to recognize it, if the agony sustains?"Our thoughts and prayers are with the country singer.
