The death toll at the 40th annual Burning Man festival continues to rise.

Pershing County Sheriff Jerry Allen confirmed that a festivalgoer died while being taken to a hospital, the third reported death at this year's festival.
The person was en route to a hospital in Reno, roughly 120 miles south of Black Rock City, Nevada, where the festival takes place, when they died, the Pershing County Sheriff's Office said.
"Although we average one death a year at the Festival, we have had two so far this year within the confines of the Festival. I have received information regarding a third who died in transit to a hospital in Reno," Allen said in a statement Monday.
Pershing County Confirms Multiple Deaths at Burning Man
Burning Man announced on Saturday that a second attendee, Craigh Mann, 60, had died. Mann was found dead in his camp in Black Rock City, Nevada. No cause of death was disclosed.
A preliminary investigation did not indicate signs of foul play, Allen said.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the participant's family, friends, campmates, and all those affected by this loss," the festival said in a statement.
His death comes days after a fellow Burning Man attendee died after suffering a medical emergency. The 50-year-old festivalgoer was taken to the camp's emergency care center, where he was pronounced dead.
"It is with heavy hearts that Burning Man Project confirms a Black Rock City participant in his mid-50s experienced a medical emergency," the festival stated.
Deputies found Sampson Tshombe dead after responding to the temporary hospital located at the festival on Thursday, Allen said.
He "immediately received lifesaving measures and was transported to the on-site center for emergency care," Burning Man said in a statement on Sept. 4. Tshombe was pronounced dead at the on-site emergency care facility.
Foul Play Ruled Out in Burning Man Attendee Deaths
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the participant's family, friends, and those affected by this loss," Burning Man said. "The safety and well-being of our community and staff remain our highest priority."
As with Mann, officials ruled out signs of foul play in Tshombe's death.
Burning Man is a nine-day festival that draws about 70,000 attendees. Featuring a heavy mix of EDM and techno, the festival began 40 years ago.
The annual event focuses on art and self-expression. Most attendees camp out during the nine-day festival.
This year's festival began Aug. 30 and ran through Monday.
