Ray LaMontagne performed on September 5 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. The show was part of his Trouble 20th Anniversary tour. That's when the singer and songwriter suddenly collapsed on stage. He was in the middle of singing his 2004 track "Jolene."
According to Consequence, the singer suddenly started grunting at the end of the track. He then appeared to grab the mic stand and fell backwards on the floor. He was still holding his guitar during the scary incident.
Singer Collapses on Stage
In the clip, LaMontagne, 53, could be seen strumming his guitar and singing his 2004 track "Jolene." But as he reached the end of the track, he could be heard grunting and grabbing the mic stand as he fell backward on the floor while holding his guitar.
Following the incident, LaMontagne's team took to social media. They explained that the singer is okay. He was suffering from dehydration and that is why he collapsed.
"Thank you to everyone who came out to tonight's show at the Ryman," they wrote. "Ray is in good hands with the local EMS and is being treated for heat related dehydration, he is doing well now and is grateful for everyone's understanding."
The team added: "He is looking forward to being onstage in Louisville tomorrow night."
We hope that the singer isn't pushing himself too hard. He's in the middle of his Trouble 20th Anniversary Tour. For the tour, he's performing the album in full along with other songs. It's a lot of performance, and it sounds like heat got the best of the singer on this occasion.
The South is hot after all. The singer will perform in Philadelphia, Detroit, Boston, and Portland as part of the tour. The Weather Station has been opening for the tour. Hopefully, he has an uneventful rest of his tour moving forward.
