Internet Goes Wild After Trump Says "The Moon is Ours", Reveals New Space Force Uniforms

Trump made the wild posts on social media, leaving people confused. People especially had issues with the uniforms themselves.

Have you seen the comedy series Space Force? Well, it follows a fictionalized version of the very real branch of the military that deals in all things space.

Well, the show goes into pretty hilarious details about what a modern space race would look like - but it doesn't address something like what just happened.

President Trump has just made a pretty searing announcement. In a post on his social media website, Truth Social, he made a four-word announcement that shook the Internet. What is it, you ask?

"The Moon Is Ours". The post came in the form of a flashy graphic showing the moon in space, alongside a U.S. flag.

The idea of any one country owning the moon isn't exactly enshrined in international law. The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs' website shows the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which reads:

"The exploration and use of outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, shall be carried out for the benefit and in the interests of all countries, irrespective of their degree of economic or scientific development, and shall be the province of all mankind."

Trump Also Shared a New Space Force Uniform

And, as well as the declaration that the Moon is now U.S. territory, he also shared a directive for a possible new Space Force uniform. Take a look:

People on social media had some choice words - especially about the uniform.
Some were quick to make the connection between the uniforms and the Star Wars franchise. One commenter posted a uniform showcase of the Galactic Empire - and the resemblance is uncanny, especially to the "Lieutenant Stormtrooper Corps".

Another commenter asked, "Did they just copy Star Wars?".

But, other commenters made a more sinister connection. They likened the uniforms to Nazi uniforms from WW2. One commenter wrote, "To be honest the black motorcycle boots with black uniform scream Gestapo s*** that You don't need!", with another writing, "Now they will call us space nazis".

Whether this is just a joke on Trump's part, or there really will be a U.S. colony on the moon in a few years' time - one thing remains clear. We really hope they don't send a chimp up there to do satellite repairs!
