Arthur Marshall, who was most well known for his stints as a receiver for the New York Giants, has passed away at the age of 57. As reported by the New York Post, he was also an NFL record holder after throwing an 81-yard touchdown pass.
According to FOX 54, the NFL star passed away after a battle with stomach cancer.
Marshall's obituary read, "A former professional NFL athlete, Arthur carried strength and determination throughout his life."
It continued, "But those who knew him best will remember him most for the size of his heart. He was a giver by nature - generous with his time, love, encouragement, and support. He genuinely cared for people and found joy in helping others."
His NFL career began in a pretty spectacular way - his rookie season landed him an NFL record. With the Broncos and against Dallas, he had thrown an 81-yard touchdown pass. The specific record he broke was "the longest completed pass by a non-quarterback".
But he was most well known for his stint with the New York Giants. During his stint with them, he collected 414 receiving yards and even got a touchdown of his own between 1994-96.

Tributes Poured in for the Giants Star
Daniel Dorsey, the head coach of Marshall's alma mater high school, had fond memories of him. "When he touched the field, you knew he was on the field," he recalled.
"He made a difference, whether it was offense, defense, or special teams. He was just a special player all around". Dorsey explained that the NFL record holder was added into the Hephzibah High School Hall of Fame in 2003, and that this "speaks volumes to who he is and the mountains that you can climb if you just put your mind to it."
People also posted their condolences on his obituary page online. One poster wrote, "Very sorry to hear this... We went to HS together and both (at different times) played at the University of Georgia."
Another poster wrote, "From me to my number one friend and card buddy and golfing partner may you rest in peace and you will never be forgotten God Bless your soul and comfort your family we will always love ya."
