A spokesperson announced the longtime anchor's departure yesterday, Sep. 3. "We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter," the statement said.
Was Maria Bartiromo Fired?
Bartiromo has hosted several shows at Fox Business and Fox News Channel, including Mornings with Maria. As evidenced by the statement above, Fox News Media did not say she was fired.
The anchor, who worked for CNBC before calling Fox News her home in 2014, has yet to comment about her departure. She last appeared on Fox Business on Aug. 7 and on Fox News on Aug. 9.
However, it is worth noting that Bartiromo has been criticized for endorsing claims of election fraud regarding the 2020 presidential election. Her remarks played a key role in Dominion Voting Systems' $1.6 billion defamation case against Fox News Media. Though the suit was ultimately settled, the company allegedly paid $787 million to Dominion.
Bartiromo is reportedly connected to another defamation suit against Fox News Media by the voting software company Smartmatic.
Starting this morning, Mornings with Maria is now known as Mornings with Fox Business. Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street has been renamed FBN's Wall Street. Cheryl Casone is hosting, along with several rotating anchors.
Jason Chaffetz will host Fox News Channel's Sunday Morning Futures this Sunday. A new host will be named at a later date.
What Did President Donald Trump Say About the Anchor?
On Sep. 3, President Trump shared a statement about Bartiromo's departure on Truth Social.
"I can't believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business," he wrote. "Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior. Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria! President DONALD J. TRUMP."
During her time with Fox, Bartiromo interviewed President Trump several times. She also co-moderated two debates during the 2016 presidential election.
