Dennis Quaid packed his bags and moved to Nashville in 2020. The versatile Reagan star, who is 72 and hails from Houston, Texas, seems to prefer the laid-back lifestyle of Music City versus the hubbub of Los Angeles. He recently dished freely to People about living in the hallowed seat of country music.

"Basically I play golf. I love to be around the house here. You get a lot of land and space, but you're still in an urban environment. I've made some really good friends here to spend time with. It's important and a great place to raise a family."
In 2020, Quaid also wed his fourth wife, Laura Savoie. He has three children - Jack, Zoe Grace, and Thomas. Jack is his son with his ex, actress Meg Ryan. His other children's mom is another ex, Kimberly Buffington, to whom Quaid was married from 2004 to 2018.
Although Dennis Quaid is happy where he now resides, he still praises Los Angeles, at least the way it used to be. "It was such a great community when I lived there."
Quaid Settled in L.A. More Than Fifty Years Ago
Most American cities were vastly different decades ago than they are now. Los Angeles is one of them. Dennis Quaid put down roots there in 1974, per the outlet. For an ambitious young man intent on being an actor, it was ideal. He got a solid foothold in the business, appearing in The Big Easy and The Right Stuff. However, the entertainment industry has undergone significant changes as well.
Even Auditions Have Changed
Quaid observed, "It used to be if you were auditioning for something, you'd go to an office. You'd go in and there would be five people dressed just like you, all up for the same part, waiting for time to read. You met a lot of people that way and that's where a community was formed."
That camaraderie has diminished, thanks to the advent of auditions that actors tape themselves. Quaid laments, "Now everybody puts something on tape in their room and sends it in. You don't have this feeling of community over that."
The Actor Doesn't Rule Out a Return to Los Angeles Someday
He confided to the outlet, "I might be open to going back to L.A. later on. I moved before the fires and everything, but I just think things have got to get a little better there. And it's so nice here in Tennessee. It's soft and it's a real feeling of community."
