Dolly Parton was a proud multi-hyphenate who did it all with style, grace, and passion. In many ways, she was a pioneer for other female country singers who followed her. Parton was and is looked up to, and with ample reason. She made her way in the genre at a time when it was heavily male-dominated without compromising her values and principles. Dolly Parton was always true to herself and her fans. One of those who adored the legendary "Jolene" singer and is inspired by her is Lainey Wilson. She tenderly recalled her final phone conversation with Parton in the wake of her death this week.

Wilson Wrote Touchingly About Parton on Social Media
It sure sounds like these two amazing ladies had plenty to talk about! Furthermore, from Wilson's Instagram post, they dished about their husbands, their faith, being in "the business," and just plain living. It's clear that Wilson deeply treasured her friendship with Dolly Parton. In fact, the last lines of Wilson's message, when she writes, "I can't wait to see you again...." bring a tear to the eye.
Wilson began, "My Dolly. I felt like you were my friend before we even met.. you made everybody feel that way. But once we became friends, boy did we have a lot to talk about... I sure am glad you called a couple of weeks ago. We got to talk about the business, the sacrifice, how special Carl Dean [Parton's late husband} was to you and how important Duck [Wilson's husband, Devlin "Duck" Hodges] is to me.. you told me that "it's all great and stuff that Duck lets you be you, but you better make sure you let Duck be himself too."
"I Am Thankful the Lord Gave You a Gift"
She went on, "You also told me to take my time reading the book of Revelation and that I might need to go on back to Psalms for a minute to catch my breath. We talked about how we both feel like we were called into this business and you told me you felt like you weren't finished. Well my friend, you are not. The kind of love and light you shined in your lifetime is the kind that never goes away. I am thankful the Lord gave you a gift, you decided to share it, and the Lord decided to share you with us...can't wait to see you again and I know when I hug your neck in heaven someday you are still gonna be saying, "don't mess up hair, Lainey girl." I will always love you, my friend."
Videos and Photos Depict These Two Country Singers
Lainey Wilson included a group of videos and photos of herself with Dolly Parton. In one video, they sing "I Will Always Love You." In the pics, the women are smiling or holding hands. Theirs was a very special bond that Wilson will hold in her heart for many years to come.
