Tragedy struck when Mexico hosted its own version of Spain's running with the bulls festival, as two people were killed and nearly a dozen were injured.

During the frenzy, 21 bulls were released, forcing willing daredevils to sprint for their lives.
Unfortunately, not everyone avoided the rampaging bulls. Juan Manuel Filomeno Herrera, 29, was among the participants but was chased down and fatally gored by a bull. Filomeno suffered serious head and chest injuries, according to the US Sun.
Luis Xolocotzi Ramirez, 57, suffered a skull fracture and a gore injury to his chest at Saturday's event in Huamantla, east of Mexico City.
He was airlifted to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The deaths were the first for eight years at the festival.
Video footage revealed other participants being run down and thrown about, but they were able to avoid fatal injuries.
At least 11 people suffered various injuries from bulls but survived, the Sun reported.
The festival has been held in the Mexico region since 1953. However, following recent tragedies, some have questioned if the tradition is worth the danger.
"At what point does tradition become thoughtlessness, violence and negligence?" Bruno Gonzalez wrote on Facebook, according to the Sun.
Although running from a horde of angry bulls sounds like a recipe for disaster, fatalities are relatively rare in such instances.

Since event organizers began tracking them in 1911, Spain's famous San Fermin Festival has only resulted in 16 fatalities. The most recent fatality occurred in 2009.
The lack of fatalities doesn't mean everyone comes out unscathed, however. Each year, the festival reports 50 to 100 injuries.
Last month, 57 people were injured in the annual festival, according to Euro News.
Ten men suffered injuries during the eighth and final bull run of Spain's famed San Fermín festival.
An 18-year-old man suffered a gore wound to the thigh, and a 46-year-old man was gored in the chest. The remaining eight were taken to hospital with bruises of varying severity, the Navarre regional government said on Tuesday in a statement.
