Millions around the world are trying to absorb the shocking news about Dolly Parton's death. In fact, ways to honor her are now being put in place. President Donald Trump announced that flags will be lowered for her. Undoubtedly, countless tributes in words, song, and other means will be forthcoming. Her beloved theme park, Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, will be open on Wednesday, August 26, the day after her death. An upbeat, optimistic person, she would have wanted it that way.

Dollywood Issued an Eleoquent Statement
The theme park's web site now features a lovely tribute to the icon. There is a black and white photo of her, with the title of one of her most cherished songs - "I Will Always Love You." Parton's first name appears as it would in her handwriting. Also included are the dates of her birth (January 19, 1946) and death (August 25, 2026).
The statement reads in part like this. "With heavy hearts, the Dollywood family mourns the passing of our beloved Dreamer-in-Chief, Dolly Parton. Everyone at Dollywood shares the sorrow of countless people around the world touched by Dolly's warmth, wisdom and generous spirit."
Furthermore, it added this. "Dolly's heartfelt wish was that Dollywood always remain a place of joy, hope and togetherness—a space where families and friends could honor her memory, not with silence, but with laughter, music and shared dreams...."
"The Show Must Go On"
Parton's fans will be able to visit Dollywood tomorrow. The statement mentions, "...In her spirit, Dollywood will be open Wednesday as Dolly wanted, always reminding everyone with her signature sparkle -- 'the show must go on.' Together, we honor her by carrying forward her message of love, perseverance, and hope."
It is suggested that people consider donating to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to honor her memory.
Eugene Naughton, president of Dollywood Parks & Resorts, described what it means to him to have facilitated the star's vision. He wrote movingly in the statement, "The greatest privilege of my life has been helping Dolly bring her dreams to life at Dollywood. Dolly's heart was as vast as the mountains she cherished, and her compassion knew no bounds...."
