Sport media company Barstool Sports had an unwelcome visitor at their headquarters in New York City on Monday (August 24) -- an Uber driver who turned violent during his food drop-off.

"We had a crazy scene today at Barstool World Hq," Portnoy wrote in the social media post. "An Uber Eats driver got in a fight with Gia in the hallway over her order. Our security guard Dan went into the hall to tell the guy to leave, and he attacked him."

Portnoy added that the security guard had beaten up the delivery person "pretty good." And that it took a bevy of the company's employees to ultimately diffuse the "explosive" situation. Portnoy said that the delivery driver was ultimately arrested. He also saluted the team effort by the Barstool employees to get everything under control.
"Bravery like this can not go unnoticed. Totally secured and locked down the office. The police did show up and arrest the guy. Danny may need a few stitches and a couple beers. All in all, another day at the Stool. Shoutout Mandami's NYC," Portnoy concluded the statement.
Of course, the viral altercation led to an outpouring of reactions from users on social media.
"Can not get worked by an Uber Eats driver when you're a security guard. Rematch on RnR gets the security job," one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Any serious company would fire Dan immediately as he clearly cannot do his job," a second user chimed in.
Uber also released a statement in the aftermath of the incident. They noted that they are "horrified" by the situation and the driver has since been removed from the Uber Driver app.
"We are horrified by the conduct displayed. Violence is never tolerated, and we've removed the courier's access to the Uber platform," a company spokesperson told The New York Post in a statement. "We stand ready to assist police however we can."
