A wanted post has gone viral in Georgia after police launched a search for a Walmart shopper who picked up $30 from the floor and failed to hand it in.

The Albany Police Department in southern Georgia posted an image of the man online in an attempt to identify him.
Authorities became involved after another shopper reported dropping the cash while inside the store.

The Albany Police Department turned to Facebook and asked members of the public for help identifying the man.
"The Albany Police Department would like the public's assistance with identifying the suspect in the photo," the post read.
"An individual dropped $30.00 on the ground while shopping. This individual picked up the money and did not turn it in to the employees."
The incident occurred at a Walmart located at 2586 N. Slappey Blvd., with police initially urging anyone who recognized the shopper to contact the department.
However, as the unusual wanted post began circulating on social media, it sparked a heated debate over whether picking up $30 warranted police involvement.
"Finders keepers," one user wrote.
"When I was out with some friends I found a bank envelope in a parking lot that appeared to be from a withdrawal and it had $8,000 in it," another shared.
"Now that is something you turn in not $30 found inside a Walmart."
Walmart Shopper Comes Forward After Viral Police Appeal
Other social media users questioned what crime the man had actually committed and why police had become involved over such a small amount of money.
One commenter pointed out that under Georgia law, someone who finds lost property must make an "honest effort" to locate its rightful owner rather than simply keeping it.
The story then took another twist when the Albany Police Department announced that the man had come forward and returned the $30 to its owner.
The victim initially wanted to pursue charges but decided against doing so after receiving the money back.
Despite the resolution, the bizarre incident continued generating criticism of the police department on social media.
"You guys are a joke... do better," one Facebook user wrote.
Another urged authorities to remove the man's photograph now that he had returned the money and the victim no longer wished to pursue charges.
