Amazon Delivery Drone Drops Package into Someone's Pool

The drone was captured on video simply flying up to the pool, and dropping the parcel in there. The video proceeded to go viral.

Everyone these days knows that the rapid advance in technology is a double-edged sword.

I feel like if you traveled back 40 years and said to the average person that in 2026 we could order anything and everything easier than you would a pizza, and then have it air-dropped on our doorsteps, they'd be absolutely shocked.

But if you were to tell them their package might end up skinny dipping in a pool... maybe they wouldn't be as shocked.

Well, in any case, one Texas resident was pretty horrified to see that exact scene play out. Per the New York Post, it was just a normal day for Lindsey Austen.

As one does, she'd made a routine purchase using the giant's infrastructure. She was waiting patiently in her home after she'd been told her package was out for delivery.

The Prime Air program is a pretty new thing, all considered. So when she heard the distinctive buzzing noise of the drone, she came outside to see it work its magic.

But that child-like wonder descended into shock and distress as she quite literally watch her package take a swim.

The Delivery Drone Mistake Made Her Question the Program

Of course, seeing something crazy like that happen would make you a little skeptical of drones. While we aren't exactly sure what was in the Amazon parcel - Austen didn't specify - she was a little frustrated by the whole thing.

"When it went into the pool, I was shocked. I don't think I'll be wanting any more drone deliveries," she explained.

However, despite the massive amount of attention the fail received online, Amazon are pretty confident in the whole thing.

Amazon spokesperson Allie Payne said, "Prime Air provides customers with fast, reliable delivery across a broad selection of prodcuts... The response from customers using Prime Air has been overwhelmingly positive."

"Incidents are extremely rare, and when a delivery doesn't go as planned, we learn from it to improve the experience and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future," she added.

We hope that there won't be many more waterlogged packages in future!
