There Were Reports of Gunfire
As reported by PEOPLE, the incident took place moments after the family of Shakur left for lunch on Aug. 18.
Dispatch had received several calls about gunshots heard inside a business in the 500 block of Casino Center Boulevard near Bonneville Street, per the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
A heavy police presence soon followed, with one officer reportedly holding a large weapon.
Those who responded to the call were unable to locate a victim or confirm a shooting took place, police said.
"From what I know, there was no one critically injured, at least at the moment," a source said. "But there was some type of shooting incident."
Other reports indicate that the reported gunshots came from a Starbucks near the corner of Casino Center Boulevard and Clark Avenue.
The investigation into the shooting is currently ongoing. No other details were immediately available. Neither the incident nor the police response disrupted the trial.
Davis Is Charged With the Murder of Tupac Shakur
Davis is being charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further, or assist a criminal gang. He has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors allege the 63-year-old didn't pull the trigger. Rather, they claim he acted as the ringleader who arranged the drive-by shooting of Shakur in 1996. They believe Davis' motive was to avenge an attack on his nephew by Shakur's entourage several hours earlier.
Yesterday, jurors watched surveillance video from the MGM Grand, where the attack on Davis' nephew took place. The camera showed several people beating and kicking someone on the ground.
Video also showed Shakur and his entourage moving through the building. Footage also shows Davis' nephew talking with security and police at the scene.
It was a few hours later when Shakur was gunned down. The 25-year-old rapper was riding in a black BMW with music mogul Marion "Suge" Knight. The shooter was someone in a white Cadillac carrying Davis, his nephew, and two other men. Shakur succumbed to his injuries six days later.
The trial is expected to last around one month. The list of witnesses has over 200 names.
