Remember The Titans Star Get Candid About His Battle With Addiction

Actor Ethan Suplee has had one of the more dramatic body transformations. Once known as the portly actor who starred as the 500+ pound linebacker Louis Laster in Disney's hit film Remember the Titans, Suplee has shed most of the weight he had during the film. In total, he has lost over 300 pounds.

When speaking with Fox News Digital about his body transformation, Suplee explained that there was one major key to his success. For him to see the results that he wanted, he had to change his mindset. And that started when he stopped believing that there was a "cure" to his weight loss. The same approach that he took when locking in on his sobriety.

Suplee Gets Candid About His Addiction & Weight Loss

The actor explained that he would believe that staying sober from drugs and alcohol for an extended period of time made him believe that he was free of addiction.

He explained to the outlet that it was not until he accepted that there was no cure. But rather that he had to make a lifestyle change to achieve the results that he desired.

"My condition isn't a condition with a cure," Suplee explained to the outlet. "It's a condition that I can learn to manage."

"I did not apply that to weight loss for many, many years. I kind of was doing everything in my head, and the big boon to actually being able to maintain it was finding a group of people to be accountable to."

While diet and exercise are really the key ingredients to see a change in a person's weight, other options have become available. GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy have helped many people achieve the results that they desired in a short period of time. And while Suplee acknowledges the benefits of GLP-1 drugs, he doesn't believe that it is an effective method for achieving a healthier lifestyle.

"I think, unfortunately, it's also not a one-stop shop. I think you can hop on a GLP-1 and experience weight loss. You can see the scale go down week over week for a long time without having to do anything else," he added/

"I think when people imagine their ideal, I don't think the GLP-1s get anyone to their ideal."
