Even politicians know that McDonald's has great food to help you sober up after a long night of drinking.

But even if you are someone like Oklahoma Secretary of State Benjamin Lepak, you still have to behave yourself while enjoying your Super-Size fries.
"He Does Seem Drunk"
As reported by the New York Post, someone called 911 on Friday, Aug. 14 to alert authorities that a male appeared intoxicated outside a McDonald's in Edmond, Oklahoma.
"I just wanted to call and see if you guys can come check someone that's out here. He's been out here for like a while now; like he's not causing a scene or anything, but he does seem drunk," they told dispatchers.
When officers arrived, they saw the 42-year-old Lepak holding his bag of food. Bodycam footage captured the incident.
"I'm just gonna be honest, people are calling because they're worried about you being intoxicated," one officer said.
Lepak, slurring his words, told the officers he had traveled a block and did not drive to the McDonald's. He then changed his story, saying he had gone to church.
"I Want to Eat My McDonald's"
The officers began questioning Lepak about how much he had to drink. The politician said he hadn't, then began to ramble about his kids starting at a new school.
"I want to eat my McDonald's," he said at one point.
The officer asked the question again, saying he could smell booze on his breath.
"Stop lying to me. I don't like being lied to," he told Lepak.
Lepak again started to ramble on. He finally admitted that he "had a beer" and "stopped to get McDonald's."
"You had one beer?" the officer replied. Lepak then claimed he had "less than that."
The cop then asked him to put his food on the ground. Lepak eventually complied before he was handcuffed.
"You're under arrest for public intoxication," the officer told Lepak. "You're lucky it's not for a DUI [driving under the influence]. You understand?"
Lepak answered, "No, I don't." He seemed unaware that he appeared intoxicated.
This isn't Lepak's first brush with the law. Officers learned he had pleaded guilty in May 2021 to charges of actual physical control of a vehicle while intoxicated and transporting an open container of beer. He was sentenced to community service and probation.
Lepak's spokesperson told reporters that he was waiting outside McDonald's for dinner.
They added, "He was not given a breathalyzer test. Mr. Lepak will address the ticket appropriately through the legal process."
Lepak assumed the role of Secretary of State in April. His term ends on Jan. 11, 2027, and he reportedly does not plan to resign after this incident.
