Actress Phyllida Law Dies at 94 Surrounded by Family
Leggo revealed in a statement that Law died peacefully at home with her family by her side.
"It is with great sadness we have to announce that Phyllida Law died supremely peacefully at home, surrounded by all of her family, on Monday 27th July," the statement read.
"We had worked together for over fifty years and she was a beautiful person inside and out."
Law enjoyed an entertainment career spanning eight decades, working across the stage, television and film.
She initially attended theater school with ambitions of becoming a stage designer before ultimately turning her attention to acting.
Law shared daughters Emma, 67, and Sophie, 64, with her husband Eric Thompson.
She married Thompson, also an actor, in 1957, with the couple remaining together until his death at the age of 53 in 1982.
Following her father's death, Emma developed an especially close relationship with her mother and sister. She was 21 at the time, while Sophie was 18.
Law Shared the Screen With Her Daughters
Law's lengthy career also gave her several opportunities to work alongside her daughters.
She appeared with Sophie in the 1996 movie Emma.
During the 1990s, Law also starred alongside Emma in two films directed by and co-starring her daughter's then-husband, Kenneth Branagh.
The family collaborations included Much Ado About Nothing and Peter's Friends.
Law and Emma later played mother and daughter on screen in Alan Rickman's award-winning directorial debut, The Winter Guest.
They also featured together in the 2005 children's movie Nanny McPhee. Law provided the voice of Mrs. Partridge, while Emma played the title character and co-wrote the screenplay.
Law's most recent public appearance came in September 2025, when she attended the premiere of Emma's movie Dead of Winter.
Her final movie credit came in the 2020 film Then Came You, in which she played Arlene Awd.
