Bees are some of the most adorable creatures on this planet - just my opinion, of course, but come on. They're so gentle, and so fuzzy... well, except if you're allergic.
But that wasn't really something Hollywood icon Matthew McConaughey was really thinking about when he was on set playing a man who owns a honey business. He plays a "honey industry proprietor and bluegrass musician".
Naturally, people who make honey tend to handle bees, right? But that was a big problem... because he found out he was allergic! Per People, he opened up about his role in The Rivals of Amziah King and his subsequent revelation.
"I got stung early and found out that I was very allergic," the Hollywood icon recalled. "And if I got stung again, it would have been four days with no Amziah on camera because he'd be swollen up."
"If I got stung, they didn't need me on camera anymore," he explained, laughing. He also recalled a scene where his arm was being surrounded by thousands of bees. Of course, any stings there would be catastrophic for the cameras - so they opted to film it right at the end of the shooting cycle.

The Hollywood Icon Wasn't the Only One To Be Stung
Angelina LookingGlass, who plays McConaughey's daughter, also was stung several times throughout shooting.
Luckily for her, however, she wasn't allergic. McConaughey recalled, "But you're not allergic, you rolled right through it!" Despite her seven stings, he said she was able to be "camera-ready" just 30 seconds after being stung.
That certainly wasn't the case for the Hollywood icon - he said "If I got stung, I was not going to be on camera for five days."
McConaughey also revealed he said he wasn't allergic prior to shooting, and a bee sting had proved that. Of course, up until he was driving home. "Beekeeper says, 'You allergic?'", he recalled.
"I said, 'Absolutely not.'... 20 minutes went by, looked great, he said, 'You're not allergic.' They all left. I'm in the middle of my 45-minute drive home... All of a sudden I lose all my peripheral vision in my right eye."
"...I don't know why until I lower the vanity mirror and my whole side of my face is swollen up," he recalled.
