Since her post, friends and peers have shared their support for the actress, including Jenna Fischer. As fans of the U.S. version of The Office know, she played Pam Beesly, Davis' American counterpart on the beloved sitcom.
Jenna Fischer Went Through a Similar Situation
In her Instagram post this week, Davis said she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer a year and a half ago. The cancer has spread to her bones, including her spine, right hip, and ribs.
"The cancer is incurable, and too late for chemo," she added.
Fischer shared in 2024 that she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer. It's an extremely aggressive but treatable form of the disease. The actress underwent 12 rounds of weekly chemotherapy beginning in 2025, followed by three weeks of radiation treatment.
"After completing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation I am now cancer free," she wrote in the post.
"The Office" Star Sent Her Support to Lucy Davis
Davis said in her post that she is "perfectly able" to keep working onscreen and that acting is "one of the biggest joys" in her life.
Fischer echoed that feeling in her comment on Davis' post.
"Love you lots," wrote Fischer. "Let's spread that message far and wide! How working is such a comfort."
Fischer was not the only celebrity to support Davis during her cancer battle. Ricky Gervais, Davis' co-star from The Office, left a red heart emoji in the comments.
Director Edgar Wright, who directed the cult classic Shaun of the Dead starring Davis, wrote, "Love you Lucy. Always. See you very soon."
Although Davis' prognosis is serious, she says she is not afraid.
"I'm not scared of whatever comes next," she wrote. "I'm at peace with it. ... For me, leaving my physical body just means going home. Any and all grieving is for my family; it's far harder for them than for me."
