The 49-year-old revealed the extent of his injury in an Instagram post on Monday, August 10, confirming that he now faces a lengthy recovery.
Rock Singer Phil Jamieson Fractures Back in Onstage Accident
Jamieson explained that when he slipped, his spine "connected to the drum riser," resulting in a fracture to his lower back.
The accident forced him to cut the concert short, with paramedics taking him by ambulance to Latrobe Hospital in Victoria for medical treatment.
"I spent most of Friday in emergency getting different tests etc and by 4am I was confirmed to have fractured my L1 (lower back guy), with a prescription of bed rest and a long road to recovery," the post read.
"This means, sigh, that the tour is cancelled"
Jamieson revealed that he is currently unable to stand as he begins his recovery. He admitted that "No-one is more bummed about this than me".
"Thanks to all who reached out. News travels fast in this game and I appreciate all the well-wishes and kind offers of help," he added.
The singer also thanked the hospital staff who took "elite care" of him, including the paramedics and discharge nurse who helped him following the accident.
Jamieson's New Album Will Still Go Ahead
Alongside canceling his remaining tour dates, Jamieson has been forced to call off the planned launch party for his new album, 10Charlie.
However, the injury will not delay the record itself, which remains scheduled for release on August 14.
"ALBUM is still out on Friday," the singer said. "While we won't be launch partying together anymore...if you feel like wrapping your earholes around it, I would be grateful. Lots of work went into it and I love it."
Jamieson still managed to poke fun at his unfortunate situation as he signed off his statement.
"I hope to see you all soon. Love, PJ in my pjs for the foreseeable future x."
Jamieson released his debut solo album, Somebody Else, in July 2022. The record peaked at No. 51 on the Australian music charts.
He had been preparing for the release of his second solo record with an extensive run of shows across Australia.
The tour was scheduled to continue through September 1. However, Jamieson's website now lists no upcoming performances as he focuses on recovering from the fracture.
