Brantley Gilbert is turning into a true country music star. However, as he continues his ascent up the country charts following the reease of his latest album, 'Sins Of The Father,' Gilbert is learning that finding balance in life can be a tough task.

During a recent appearance on the 'Whiskey Riff Podcast,' Gilbert shared his struggles when balancing being a parent and a touring star.
"When we have kids we all want to be the best dad they could ask for, right? And I got in the habit of saying that and subconsciously thinking I was doing it," Gilbert said. "My wife's really good at holding me accountable and brought some things to my attention about being present. Not just being there but BEING THERE, and I wasn't doing a good job of it. I thought I was."
Gilbert continued by sharing the mental pull he has between being an amazing parent and providing for his family.
"When I'm at home, I feel like I'm supposed to be out earning and spending time with these folks that have helped us build this crazy thing over 20 years. When I'm out there, I feel like I'm supposed to be at home, being present. The only time I truly feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be is when they are out on the road with me."
Brantley Gilbert Doesn't Take His Kids on the Road Too Often
Unfortunately for Gilbert, he rarely gets the opportunity to take his kids on the road with him.
"Which is few and far between right now because my wife started a homeschool school... like a faith-based thing. She outgrew the building in 3 years so we bought a church.... I work harder at home than I do here."
In truth, Gilbert is feeling the same type of pull all parents do. Splitting your time between work and parenting is never easy, regardless of you job. Still, that's what makes Gilbert so relatable. The good news is that when a star is relatable, it's so much easier to support their growth and success.
And, as any parent will tell you, finding a balance is that hardest part of the job, but when you figure it out, it's totally worth it.
