Jets' Stiggers Stretchered Off Field After Passing Out

On Tuesday (August 11), New York Jets cornerback Qwan'tez Stiggers passed out during the joint practice. Causing an eerie hush between players on both teams. According to the New York Post, the practice was halted for more than 10 minutes. After the Jets cornerback fell unconscious.

Despite the apparent severity of the situation, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that the cornerback had regained consciousness before being stretchered off the field into an ambulance. He also asserted that Stiggers was "good " and that by Tuesday night he had been discharged from the hospital.

"Our medical staff took the necessary steps to do everything we could," Glenn said (via The New York Post). "For the most part, he was good."

New York Jets defensive tackle Harrison Phillips said that the situation involving Stiggers was "scary." But he is happy to see his teammate back on his feet.

"It was really scary. It puts a lot of things in perspective," Phillips said (via The New York Post). I'm really happy to hear that most of the news has been positive. There's the initial knee-jerk [reaction], and you're sitting there, like, 'What the f-k?' It was great to see he was conscious."

Phillips also said that he and the rest of his Jets teammates were able to support each other in the moment of concern.

"What's really cool about the team we have ... you saw a lot of guys praying. A lot of guys talking with one another," the Jets defensive tackle added. "When we broke down the team at the end of the practice, all 90 [players] and the coaches said a prayer for him."

Now the focus for the Jets shifts to their first preseason matchup of the year against the Buccaneers. And as a team that has not made it to the postseason since 2011, this will be a big test to see if they can compete against one of the top teams in the NFL last season.
