It was a harrowing scene outside an apartment building in New York City. Police said a 5-year-old boy fell from a window high above the street on Sunday night.

A Video Captured What Happened After the Boy Fell
As reported by the New York Post, the child was wearing nothing but a diaper when he plummeted from the building in the Bronx. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 9. A video of the moment was posted on social media.
Police said the boy had "injuries indicative of falling from an elevated position." The cop shows the child on the sidewalk not moving. His arms are also outstretched, and his head is lying on the ground.
As passersby gathered around the scene, it was difficult for them to contain their disbelief.
One shouted, "Wow, a boy just fell out the window!"
Another asked at the top of his voice, "Where is the f*****g parents, man?"
The Window Had Bars Across It
There are conflicting reports regarding which floor the child fell out of. Some report it was the fourth floor, while CBS News reports that it was the fifth floor.
The latter outlet then spoke to Tone Rodriguez about what he witnessed, sharing that the boy had several scratches all over his face.
"His face was all swollen on this side. He was like, you can tell he got hit bad. We were trying to figure out where he came from," he then added.
The building's superintendent pointed out that the window that the boy fell out of had a guard. It is meant to act as a safety device to prevent young children from falling out. However, the boy appeared to climb over it and slip through.
Added Rodriguez, "He got through the window, but he took a minute to get through that because the window does have guards on it. He must have squeezed through it somehow."
Thankfully, there is a silver lining to this story. The boy was then rushed to the hospital. He is recovering and in stable condition. However, the investigation into this incident is ongoing.
