Jersey Shore star Nicole Polizzi, known as "Snooki", has opened up about her health challenges. As reported by People, the reality star had been diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer earlier this year.
And, because of the cancer, the reality star has had to have a hysterectomy. And, she's been candid about it all ever since she first got the news.
She first opened up about her experiences when doctors found cancerous cells in her cervis. At the time, she said, "It's a scary thing, and a lot of us women deal with it, and no one really talks about it." When she was later diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer, she vowed to "give [a] platform for all of us ladies".
And that's a vow that she's kept. She has been documenting her experiences ever since. Just after her hysterectomy to manage the cancer, she posted a touching video explaining how she felt.
"I read a lot of your comments that some of you are going to get surgery next week, you're doing the same thing, so I'm here to show you what's up... And it's scary, and it's okay to be scared," the reality star explained.
"But now it's over, it's over. I just have to deal with the pain, it's just like any surgery. You have pain, you gotta manage it, manage it, get the pain meds, and in a couple of days, you'll feel brand spanking new, no periods."
She added that she didn't "have to take birth control anymore", and that "hopefully, I'll be cancer free, and that's it."
