The father of iconic actress Reese Witherspoon, John Draper Witherspoon, has been rushed to the hospital. As reported by Page Six, this came after he was found "face down" near his pool at his Nashville, Tennessee condo.
A person familiar with the situation reached out to the outlet to confirm what happened. A neighbor had seen 84-year-old John lying face down on the concrete on Friday, August 7. They alerted the doorman, who went on to find him near the pool.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, explained, "The doorman and building manager rolled him over, and they said, 'Dr. Witherspoon, are you OK?'" Luckily, he ended up blinking, signaling them to have him "rushed to the hospital".
Nashville Metro police have also confirmed that an incident had happened at John's condo building. However, they did not release the identity of the person.
John Draper Witherspoon holds a doctorate. He formerly worked as an otolaryngologist, a surgeon who works with the ears, nose, and throat.
John Draper Witherspoon is also a veteran. He served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was stationed in Germany for a time when Reese Witherspoon was very young.

Reese Witherspoon Has Spoken Out About Her Dad Being Rushed to Hospital
Following her father being rushed to the hospital, Reese Witherspoon took to social media to address what happened.
Per Yahoo!News, she wrote, "Earlier today, several outlets reported that my dad was taken to the hospital after a fall."
"I want to let everyone know that he is fine now. He is being taken care of by wonderful doctors and nurses."
She also thanked her concerned fans. "Thank you to everyone who reached out, it means the world to our family." She did not release any additional information as to his condition.
Witherspoon previously spoke about her parents in 2008. She said that they believed she "could do anything". Both her parents worked in the medical field, with Betty Witherspoon having been a nurse. For Witherspoon, this meant that the value of "helping people on a daily basis" was "inculcated" in her.
