NCIS is looking to have a wonderful 2026. Not only are we looking at a genuine full-season return of Gibbs (Mark Harmon) in NCIS: Origins, but we're also seeing DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) come back into the limelight.
And they know exactly what they're doing by buzzing fans right up. The official NCISverse Instagram page has posted a pretty on-brand trend to tease Anthony DiNozzo's return.
The caption of the video reads, "Michael preparing for his documentary about what it feels like to be back on NCIS Season 24". The video features Weatherly in a full suit. It's classic DiNozzo, although we can't be sure whether he was in character when filming.
He goes to sit down and prepare himself, as if on a real documentary. The trend follows a slew of videos online from celebs and ordinary people alike which mimics people being sat down to be interviewed, almost in a candid manner.
And fans absolutely ate it up! One fan wrote, "I am so excited, it's not the same without Tony," with another writing, "We are waiting not so patiently, just saying... Can't wait to see you back."
Other fans noted the absence of Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), with one writing, "So weird seeing him without Cote again ?? but I'm so happy for him that he got another chance to play Dinozzo again ?"

Weatherly Did Do a Real Interview About 'NCIS'
You'd think people would be a little more frustrated about the lack of an actual interview. But they're not... Because DiNozzo's already talked in length about his return to the role.
We covered his most recent discussion about it - he was at a Comic Con in Birmingham, England, alongside Cote de Pablo.
"It's going to be very interesting to see what is revealed and unfurled," he explained. "There is a definite connection between [Tony & Ziva] and the canon that that created within."
"I just know it's going to be an exciting return and sort of back to what Cote was saying, the formula of the original show, with the crime and the investigation and the red herring at the turn of the hour and everyone chasing around and all the interpersonal play - I have really enjoyed watching what the show has done over the last 10 years since I left, but it's a different show now."
