An officer of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and a mother of three is dead. After undergoing a recent plastic surgery procedure. And now her family is demanding answers.

NYPD Officer Passes Away From Plastic Surgery Complications
31-year-old Rebecca DePaula passed away last Sunday (August 2). Her death comes as a result of complications that she was experiencing. After traveling to the Dominican Republic to have a procedure to have her breast implants removed.
Her family is now asking for an investigation to be launched. Given the circumstances surrounding her passing, according to the New York Post. They want the appropriate authorities to investigate if any kind of malpractice or negligence took place during the surgery.
Following DePaula's passing, Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry released a statement, mourning the passing of a "sister" of the NYPD.
"Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our sister P.O. Rebecca DePaula, who passed away while off duty after only 18 months on the job," Hendry said in a statement to The Post. "We ask all New Yorkers to keep her family, friends and coworkers in your prayers during this difficult time."
Of course, users on social media also had a lot to say about the officer's passing over the weekend.
"You can't shame women for wanting a lil confidence boost, but then hate on them for getting it done," one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Why would a mother of three need to do a boob job? Who are you impressing?" a second user added.
"Medical tourism has already claimed dozens of American lives. Never worth the risk," a third user remarked.
Cosmetic procedures have become increasingly popular. One method that has become extremely popular is the Brazilian Butt Lift, better known as the BBL. The procedure uses fat grafting to change the size and shape of an individual's butt by moving fat from other parts of the body.
However, the risks are seemingly never-ending. The procedure has claimed several young women's lives over the years.
In an interview with Fox News, world-renowned surgeon Dr. Miami said that, like with any other surgery, there are "risks" involved. But insists there are ways for the risks to be "mitigated."
