A 21-year-old singer received some pretty heartbreaking news just one day before releasing her debut song.
As reported by People, Suede Avery Sanders of the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music was set to release her debut song, "Go Bravely", when she received word that she had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
Doctors said she'd been diagnosed with an alveolar soft part sarcoma. According to the National Health Institute, it's one of the rarest forms of cancer and can form anywhere in the body.
Sanders' debut song, "Go Bravely", was something she made as a part of a college class. The singer made the song as a message to her middle school self—but she never expected to be using her song to support her journey in this way.
In an interview, she revealed the touching way she'd been using her song to keep her happy. "I was in my MRI and just like singing my song at myself. Like, over and over, trying to just keep my mind away from fear and take my own advice," the singer recalled.
Her mom, Sarah Young, also explained how she has been using music to cope with her diagnosis. "[Sanders] was hooked into her headphones," she recalled.
"[She] had her microphone out, she was getting the bits down, she had written some lyrics... It's sort of amazing. She is definitely an artist, and she uses it to deal with everything that's going on."

The Singer Also Revealed Her Cancer Journey on Social Media
She originally revealed her diagnosis in a post on social media. She posted it on the release date of her debut song.
"Yesterday, I was told I have a soft tissue sarcoma in my leg," she wrote. "Thankfully, it's very treatable but I can't be convinced that this song is coming out a day after this crazy diagnosis coincidentally."
"This song has already helped me grow and realign with the vision and purpose God has for me. Still so much growth ahead," she continued. "But I'm happy with where I'm going, thankful for what the song's done for me thus far... Hopeful that it can be a push to you the same way it was for me!"
