The television host made the announcement yesterday, July 30, on his QVC Christmas in July special, Rick St. Nick. He has been in front of the camera at the shopping network since 1994.
Rick Domeier Will Hit the Road Before Saying Goodbye
Before Domeier shared with viewers that he is leaving QVC for good, he said he is going on a road trip.
"They're giving me a new miniseries, he said. "It's called Rick Hits the Road."
Domeier's co-host, Mary Beth Roe, was on hand for Domeier's announcements. She teed him up for his other big news.
"In the spirit of the hits the road theme, I'm going down a different road. It's a new road — I've never been," said Domeier. "It's called retirement road. At the end of the year, I will be retiring from QVC. I'll be saying goodbye."
When Is Domeier Retiring?
Domeier said his decision was not made lightly. He first talked with someone very close to him before making the announcement.
"I had a long chat with my wife, Amy," Domeier shared. "We both decided that it's time to go down retirement road, while most of this engine is still working."
But the television host was quick to remind viewers that he isn't off the air yet. He won't make his final goodbye until December. Domeier said waiting until the end of the year will give him "an opportunity to say thanks to these people, to all these people."
He added, "We've got five months to go, let's have some fun. Let's hit the road. I'm not done yet! I'm still here!"
QVC also shared Domeier's news on social media. The shopping network assured fans that the host's "journey is not over yet!"
The caption said, "Stay tuned for a few more turns ahead on Rick's road to retirement."
