San Francisco Giants manager Tony Vitello announced that Harrison Bader is out for the rest of the season.

While the center fielder, who signed a two-year, $20 million contract with the team during the offseason, was plagued by several injuries this year, he caused more damage to his already injured left foot in a bizarre "scooter accident on Saturday night/early Sunday morning."
Harrison Bader Was Taken To a Local Hospital
The Giants haven't really gotten their money's worth with Bader in the first season of his high-priced contract. He hasn't played a game with the Giants since May 29.
As reported by the New York Post, the 32-year-old made his first appearance on the IL earlier this season because of a hamstring strain. He's also been dealing with a painful bout of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Bader was scheduled to fly to Indianapolis to visit a specialist regarding that issue.
Then in the early morning of Sunday, July 26, Bader was transported to a local hospital from San Francisco's Marina district around 2 a.m. local time. Statements from the San Francisco Fire and Police departments said that the injuries he sustained were non-life-threatening.
Bader Met the Backside of a Fire Truck
An anonymous witness shared more details regarding the incident. After a night of drinking, Bader was riding his scooter when he collided into the back of a fire truck. The emergency vehicle then ran over the athlete's already injured left foot.
The Giants said the accident caused "major injury," complicating his scheduled meeting regarding his plantar fasciitis. The team added that the "impact of the injury changed the nature of his evaluation."
The results of an MRI on Bader's foot on Tuesday were not available when Vitello shared the player's status.
"There's a chance [the injury] could delay whatever the recovery process is for him," the manager added. "But even prior to it, we're looking at a pretty frustrating and long runway before he could get on the field again."
Vitello added that any disciplinary action for Bader wouldn't be up to him.
He added, "I don't know the circumstances. Depending on what those are, I wouldn't rule any of that out. ... The front office is sorting through all that other stuff."
