World Famous DJ Dead At Age 50

DJ Kavinsky, whose real name is Vincent Belorgey, has sadly passed away at the age of 50. He was best known for his global hit "Nightcall."

DJ Kavinsky, whose real name is Vincent Belorgey, has sadly passed away at the age of 50. The French DJ, best known for his global hit "Nightcall," was found dead at his home in Paris on Tuesday, July 28. No details regarding Vincent's death have been released; however, an investigation has been launched by local authorities.

According to the BBC, local authorities believe Kavinsky may have suffered a stroke.

"French newspaper Le Figaro reported Kavinsky had been complaining of headaches for several days, and authorities think he may have had a stroke," the BBC reports. "No suspicious items were discovered at the scene... Paris prosecutors have now opened an investigation to determine the cause of death, the outlet said."

Upon learning of Kavinsky's death, Catherine Pegard, the French culture minister, paid tribute to the renowned DJ.

"Danceable and nostalgic at the same time. His music will continue to resonate across borders and different generations," Pegard wrote, per TMZ.

Kavinsky's "Nightcall" was released in 2010. It was featured on the opening credits of Drive, which starred Ryan Gosling. It was also part of the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympics.

Tributes Pour in for DJ Kavinsky

Since news of his death began to travel, tributes from the international music community have begun to pour in.

"Thank you for letting me experience that unforgettable moment on stage with you, and the entire adventure that followed," Belgian singer Angele wrote in a post on her Instagram story.

Superstar musician The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, also paid tribute to Kavinsky.

"So heartbreaking to hear the news," The Weekend wrote in a post on X. "An inspiration to so many, including myself. I will continue to honor your name and your music. Rest easy, Kavinsky."

When looking at the comments section of The Weekend's post, some fans were noting that Kavinsky helped get them into his synthwave genre.

"Kavinsky is the one who got me into the whole outrun/synthwave genre, can't tell you how many hours I've spent listening to his music," one user noted.

Currently, there's no further information regarding Kavinsky's death, nor an impending funeral.
