Why Are Lauren Alaina and Kane Brown Getting Matching Tattoos?
Back in 2016, childhood friends Alaina and Brown worked together on the megahit "What Ifs."
In the song, which appeared on Brown's debut, the singers play two potential lovers wondering about their relationship status. They bring up various scenarios and fears throughout the song, realizing that their relationship may not last. At the same time, they also realize that it could work out and don't want to miss out on something wonderful because of fear.
The song was a huge hit when it was first released, and it eventually reached Diamond status. That's when a song sells 10 million copies or more in the United States.
Only 14 country songs have achieved Diamond status. They include Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise," Lady A's "Need You Now," and Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road." So obviously, not only did "What Ifs" put Brown and Alaina on the map, it showed Nashville what they were capable of.
As PEOPLE reports, Brown and Alaina planned to commemorate the milestone by getting matching diamond tattoos. But things didn't work out as planned/
So Who Didn't Get the Tattoo?
Brown was the first to get his diamond tattoo. So why hasn't Alaina gotten hers?
"I was pregnant, so I hadn't [gotten the tattoo done]," she said. "You know what? I need to. I told him I would."
Alaina gave birth to her daughter, Beni Doll, on June 11, 2025. Between opening for Rascal Flatts this year and working with Brown on a new song, getting some ink down fell by the wayside.
However, now that their latest collab, "Never Been in Love," is out, Alaina plans to make good on her promise to Brown.
She said, "Now that we've put out another song together, I'll go get my diamond tattoo."
