President Donald Trump is taking a break from his feud with Bruce Springsteen and focusing his attention on another rock star: John Mellencamp.

Recently, the "Hurts So Good" singer made a crack about the executive order that changed the name of the "Gulf of Mexico" to "Gulf of America." As word of the joke made its way to the White House, the Trump administration responded.
What Did John Mellencamp Say?
As the New York Post reports, the moment took place on Saturday, July 25, during the songwriter's stop at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, during his performance of his hit "Pink Houses."
The 1983 song is a fan favorite. It's also a criticism of America under then-President Ronald Reagan. It poetically addresses class inequality and lost dreams.
Mellencamp launched into the song's third verse:
Well, there's people and more people
What do they know, know, know?
Go to work in some high rise
And vacation down at the Gulf of Mexico
Then Mellencamp took a moment to address the audience.
"Wait a minute," he said. "The Gulf of Mexico? Is that right? It's not the Gulf of America? What a stupid f*****g idea."
How Did President Donald Trump Respond?
Davis Ingle, a spokesman for the White House, released a statement regarding Mellencamp's remark yesterday, July 27.
"Nobody in their right mind cares what out-of-touch, woke Hollywood celebrities have to say," he said.
Mellencamp is the latest singer-songwriter to draw the ire of President Trump because of their remarks. But perhaps the feud that has spilled the most ink is the one the world leader has with Springsteen.
The Boss' current tour has been more of a political rally than a concert, with the artist criticizing President Trump and his policies.
Springsteen has said the current administration is "corrupt, incompetent, racist, reckless, and treasonous." President Trump has called the "Born to Run" singer a "total loser" and has urged his followers to boycott the singer.
