Standing at 605 feet, the Seattle Space Needle is one of the city's tallest structures and a buzzing hotspot for sightseeing and elevated dining experiences.

For a pair of thrill-seekers, the Seattle Space Needle also doubles as a great springboard for base jumping.
An unidentified pair of base jumpers scaled the 600-foot structure on Friday night, climbed over the glass wall and flipped off the building's summit before parachuting down. The fearless duo now face trespassing charges, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Additionally, Seattle cops have started a manhunt for the two risk-takers.
Footage of the daring stunt has gone viral on TikTok, drawing over 630,000 views.
Police said the daredevil duo went to the top level of the Needle and entered the restroom to change into base jumping gear and helmets.
Details about where they landed are unknown. So far, the jumpers are being described as two white males. Police believe that they are in their 20s.
"There are no new updates to share currently. This is a recent incident and detectives from the General Investigation Unit are working the case," a police rep told the New York Post on Sunday.
History of the Seattle Space Needle
The Space Needle was built as the cultural centerpiece for the 1962 World Fair, hosted in Seattle, whose theme was "The Age of Space."
The 605-foot structure was built on a $75,000 plot of land. The Space Needle officially opened on the first day of the World's Fair. During the expo, the tower hosted an estimated 2.65 million visitors.
Since its inception in 1962, the Space Needle has become one of the most photographed structures in America.
The 605-foot building has also been featured in more than a few Hollywood flicks. Glimpses of the iconic structure can be seen in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Josh Trank's Chronicle.
Although the building has been around for over 60 years, this is only the second documented incident of illegal base jumping.
In 1975, a pair of base jumpers safely parachuted off the towering structure. They were promptly arrested upon landing.
