TikTok star Rebecca Luna has passed away after a long-fought battle with Alzheimer's disease. As reported by TMZ, she had documented her experiences with the young-onset variant of the terrible disease.
Her death was announced in a post on her account. She had decided to die through medically assisted suicide, as her condition had progressed. The post read, "Rebecca passed away July 25th at approximately 1:15pm surrounded by her loved ones. Thank you for your support and privacy."
A fundraiser that she had started for her MAID (medical aid in dying) described who she was.
"Ive been a single mama (proudly) all my life, so My lovely followers suggested I do a GoFundMe for the end-of-life expenses so I don't leave my loved ones behind with that responsibility on top of their own grief," it read. As of 25th July, the fundraiser had raised nearly $10,000.
With her platform, the TikTok star became an advocate for end-of-life choices and assisted suicide.
Her death came after she revealed she had moved her end-of-life date up from August to July 25. She reflected on her journey in life, and said that her decision to die was about taking control of herself.
