Lindsay Shiver's attorney claims she should be free from prosecution over the alleged murder-for-hire plot involving her Bahamian lover and her former NFL player husband.

The attorney argues that Bahamian prosecutors lack the jurisdiction to continue pursuing charges against her. He claims the alleged offenses took place while Shiver was on United States soil.
"Lindsay Shiver is not guilty of the crimes alleged against her by the Bahamian Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Period," Shiver's attorney Craig Shirley told Fox News Digital.
The current charges against Lindsay state that she was in the Bahamas on July 16, 2023. That is when the alleged murder-for-hire plan took place. Shirley claims that Lindsay's defense has handed over multiple forms of evidence. That evidence allegedly proves his client was in the US on that date.
"The DPP must prove it. Meaning that, as a threshold requirement, the DPP is required to prove that Lindsay was in the Bahamas on July 16, 2023," Shirley continued. "It cannot."
Shirley then continued, arguing that the government cannot prosecute his client. He claimed she was not in the country when the alleged offense occurred. His claim is based on the evidence Lindsay's defense has reportedly provided.
"Lindsay cannot be prosecuted under the Bahamian Penal Code for an alleged act committed at a time when the undisputed evidence establishes that she was not in The Bahamas," he continued. "This is not a technicality. It is a legally fatal defect in the DPP's evidence, its charges and its continued prosecution of Lindsay."
Lindsay Shiver's Attorney Claims She Should Never Have Been Prosecuted
Shiver's attorney said the government should never have prosecuted his client because it lacked the legal authority to do so.
"Lindsay should never have been subjected to a prosecution that the Bahamian government lacked the legal authority to bring," he concluded.
According to The New York Post, "Shiver, along with her lover, Adrien Bethel, and the alleged hitman, Faron Newbold Jr., were arrested in the Bahamas in July 2023."
