A plane crash involving a Kenmore Air seaplane carrying 11 people left one person in critical condition after the aircraft burst into flames off the coast of Washington state.

The Kenmore Air aircraft made an emergency landing at around 5:15 p.m. local time on Thursday, July 23, in Shallow Bay on Sucia Island.

According to a Kenmore Air spokesperson, the seaplane departed Seattle's Lake Union at 4:30 p.m. It was bound for Roche Harbor.
The aircraft went down around 45 minutes into the flight.
All 10 passengers and the pilot have been accounted for, although four people were taken to hospital with serious injuries. One of those passengers is believed to be in critical condition.
"This evening one of our aircraft was involved in an accident near Sucia Island. We are grateful that everyone aboard has been accounted for, and our immediate focus is ensuring our passengers and pilot receive the care and support they need," a statement from airline CEO David Gudgel reads.
"We extend our sincere thanks to the United States Coast Guard, local emergency responders, and everyone assisting in the response. Kenmore Air is fully cooperating with the investigating authorities, and we will continue providing verified information as it becomes available."
Passengers Escape Before Seaplane Bursts Into Flames
The San Juan County Sheriff's Office said there were "multiple patients with injuries ranging from head injuries to broken bones and lacerations."
Authorities added that there have been no reported fatalities.
Video obtained by KING 5 Seattle reportedly showed the seaplane descending toward the water before striking rocks near the shoreline.
Passengers were then seen climbing out of the aircraft moments before it burst into flames.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the emergency landing or the fire.
In the aftermath of the crash, Kenmore Air canceled all scheduled flights for Friday, July 24.
The airline said it was "focusing on supporting the passengers, pilot, families, employees, and emergency response efforts."
"Our thoughts remain with everyone affected, and we are grateful to the United States Coast Guard, local emergency responders, and our community partners for their swift response and continued support," the statement adds.
The airline said it will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
